    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Dec 9, 2015

The Mustangs' 2014-2015 campaign ended in a 53-40 loss to the Rocky Boy Northern Stars in the 2015 Northern B challenge game. This season's team already looks hungry and seems ready to make a run at the State B tournament, which will be in Butte, where Malta last hoisted the State B title in 2013. "I think that this is a group that has matured and is ready to make a good run this year," Mustang Head Coach David Costin told the PCN. The team has only lost two players from last season, which...

  • North County Mavericks Basketball

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Dec 9, 2015

The North Country Mavericks are two games into their 2015 campaign and have already proven that they can win under the new cooperative agreement. The agreement brings together Hinsdale, who was 3C's top team who eventually lost out in the Eastern C Divisional and Saco-Whitewater who also lost in the Eastern C tournament in Wolf Point last season. The team squared off against the Wibaux Longhorns and Jordan Mustangs at the 2015 Glasgow Showcase last weekend and won both games. The more...

  • Dodson Coyote Basketball 2015

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Dec 9, 2015

Numbers have not been kind to the Dodson Coyotes who haven't won a game in the past two seasons. This is a trend Coach Wes KillEagle hopes to change this season. "We haven't won a game in two years, so that's our goal," he said. This season the team lists ten athletes on their roster, including seven returning players. With only one senior and one junior, the team will still be quite young, but with the talent the team boasts, the town of Dodson may be in for a competitive show. Their lone...

  • M-ette Basketball 2015

    Dec 9, 2015

The Malta M-ettes ended their 2014-15 campaign with an impressive 26-0 record that ended with a State B title in Great Falls. Winning last year's title may put a target on Malta's back for other teams but Malta's mindset is the same it was at the start of last season. "Our goals are high again this year," M-ette Head Coach Nate Hammond told the PCN. "We've got a lot of kids back from last year's successful team. We've got the talent; we just have to work all year on making it come together."...

  • N.C. Lady Mavericks Basketball 2015

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Dec 9, 2015

The Lady Panthers were the first co-op between Saco, Whitewater and Hinsdale last basketball season. The group has an entirely new look in terms of personnel and mascot. The team who had the confusing name for Saco-Whitewater-Hinsdale or SWH or whatever order one would put the schools in is now simply known as the North Country Lady Mavericks. The team boasts plenty of new talent, with many players already familiar with Head Coach Amber Erickson’s system, a system that has proven to be a w...

  • Dodson Lady Coyotes Basketball

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Dec 9, 2015

The Dodson Lady Coyotes made it to the Eastern Divisional Tournament for the second consecutive year, but the season ended on a bitter note as the team was knocked out after two games. This year's team returns plenty of talent and there are a couple of newcomers that should help the team out tremendously. Though there are many returning, everyone will start with the basics. "I'm a very fundamental coach," Coach Brandy Hunter told the PCN. "I firmly believe in them." The team has been working on...

  • Malta Mustang Wrestling 2015

    Dec 9, 2015

The Malta-Whitewater Wrestling team placed twelfth at the 2015 State B Wrestling Tournament in Billings. With two wrestlers placing in that competition and seven performing – all of which are returning - Coach Ryan LaBrie has a lot of reason to be optimistic. "With the kids we've got, once we work the kinks out they should be a pretty salty bunch," Coach Ryan LaBrie said. "They're a bunch of kids that work hard and they'll do some good things. I'm kind of excited for this year and looking forward to it." Overall the team has 13 wrestlers, 10 o...
