One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News for the Week of May 21, 2014

Pat Murdock attended the Saco School Spring Concert Tuesday evening. Her great grandchildren, Blake Ozark, Ty Murphy and Madison Taylor, all participated. The concert was great.

Bonnie McMullen is recovering from a broken ankle. She fell at her home a couple of weeks ago.

The Cinco de Mayo dinner at the North Forty Café was a big success.

Hi. Hope you had a happy Cinco de Mayo day. Does anyone know what those words mean or what we are celebrating? North Forty served a variety of Mexican foods for it.

Congratulations to Patty Young for working 40 years in the post office. That long at a job is an accom-plishment. Patty is always helpful and cheerful.

Does anyone – besides me – remember the post office in Brandt’s store?

Recently, Mr. Swingen and Mr. Englebreston – both music teachers – entertained with accordion and trombone at church. It was great!

Mrs. Sanguins is the music teacher in Whitewater.

Bob and Pat Anderson, and others from this area, attended the memorial for Lynn Cummings. Years ago, I played piano and Lynn played violin for Gladys Berg’s funeral. Lynn was so talented that he could make the violin laugh or cry.

Most of the community attended the funeral of Scott Moore. Again, we all offer our sympathy to the families. Scott will be missed.

There was a track meet in Whitewater on Thursday. Many different schools were here.

On Mother’s Day, many families and guests attended a church luncheon. Ree Simonson’s family were there. Patty Young’s daughter, Ella, and her family attended the church luncheon. Their guests were Dean’s mom, Charlene Yeadon of Rhode Island. She says it is a “culture shock” coming from Rhode Is-land to Whitewater.

Have a good week all.
