M-ette Basketball: Malta 4-0 after thrashing District 2B foes Glasgow and Poplar

The Malta M-ettes have destroyed every team that they have faced and they didn't slow down against Glasgow, who they defeated 58-15 or Poplar who they blew out 82-17.

In their victory against Poplar, Malta pulled a majority of their starters at the start of the third quarter.

That came after Malta jumped out to a 52-9 lead at the half.

Sophia Stiles had the team lead with 22 points. Hailey Nicholson had 15, Darby schye had 11, Jada Nicholson had 8, Adrianna Bibeau 5, Markelle Lett 5, Rebecca Smith 5, Kaitlyn Smith 4, Marley Manoukian 4 and Kelsey Kuehn had 3 points.

After the game the PCN caught up with Senior Kelsey Kuehn and Sophomore Jada Nicholson.

"There's always things to work on, but we did good for the most part, I thought," said Kelsey Kuehn, when asked how her team can improve.

Defeating Glasgow and Poplar so handily shows that Malta might be even better than they were last year, and the team won't take any opponent lightly.

"It's pretty important to get the wins under our belt," Kuehn said. when asked about winning district games.

When asked about who the team was looking forward to playing after break, Jada Nicholson had one very fast answer.

"Wolf Point," she said. "It's supposed to be one of our tougher games."

Malta and Wolf Point will square off on Friday, January 2. The first game after break.

She also noted that she was looking forward to facing Fairfield down the road to avenge their State loss.

"We're all pretty motivated. Just ready to go," Kelsey Kuehn said about chasing the State title.

Before they can even think about state, the team will look to stay in shape during Christmas break.

They will have three straight home games against Wolf Point, Havre and Rocky Boy in the first seven games after break.

"We will have practice throughout the break so we'll still be in shape for sure.
