Mustangs now 8-8, will look to improve record against Harlem and Plentywood

The Mustangs had a lukewarm week, dropping a game last Monday, February 2, to the Fergus Eagles and defeating Roundup last Saturday.

In their 49-39 victory against the Roundup Panthers, Nate Costin led the team with 20 points.

Allen Williamson had 10 points. Tyson Carney had eight points. Jeremy Costin had six points and Jase Galt had five points.

In their 67-60 loss to the Fergus Eagles, Malta was led by Nate Costin who scored 18 points.

Jeremy Costin had 11 points. Both Carney and Williamson had ten points. Galt scored five points. Ostin Welch had four points and Jayce Bishop had two points.

Malta and Fergus were tied heading into the third quarter 31-31. Malta even had the lead at the end of third, 48-45.

Lewistown put up 22 points in the fourth quarter, while Malta would only score 12.

Malta will play Harlem this Friday for the Malta’s Senior Night, in which the team will be honoring it’s lone senior Jeremy Costin.

Harlem will no doubt try to play spoiler for Malta’s big night, since the Wildcats proved they can hang with Malta.

The last time these teams met, Malta won 74-68 in Harlem.

This game should be a good one as both teams are fighting for position in the 2B District tournament next weekend.

Malta is also set to play Plentywood, who they destroyed 42-15 the last game they played in mid-January.

The game is set to be in Plentywood this Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
