Local News:

*Joe Olson, who had a leg broken a short time ago by falling in a well, is now at the hospital in Glasgow and reports from there say he is getting along nicely.

*The County Commissioners are in session again this week and have about all the business they care to attend to. Tuesday they made a contract with Mr. Varney for the basement and top floor of the new building he is going to put in place. The basement will be fitted up for a jail and the top floor for a courtroom.

*Assessor Roy Lee was telling us a few days ago that there is less property in the new county of Phillips than he had any idea of. Everyone he talks to tell how little they have and how much taxes they should pay. He further informed us that from the way the reports were coming to him that he expected that most of the taxes himself this year. Now any time an assessor will do that we are in favor of getting him a life job .

Headline: Robinson Bridge may be linked in rustling case

Phillips County's involvement in livestock rustling activity, reported by William Cheney, executive officer of the Montana Livestock Commission, is on the upgrade in Montana, is largely due to the fact that the Robinson Bridge over the Missouri River in Phillips County is the only link for several hundred miles between north and south Montana, law enforcement officials here say.

The theft of more than 200 head of cattle from a Wellington D. Rankin Ranch in Blaine County where an action is pending in district court is related only by the fact that the old KRM Ranch in Phillips County is a Rankin property and some of the recovered cattle were brought to this county for the winter.
