2015 M-ette Basketball Camp

Smith, Nelson one on one champions: Anderson, Denham Hot-shots

The M-ettes Basketball Camp held June 22-24 hosted 37 players from fourth to eighth grade.

It was the third camp held under Malta M-ettes Head Coach Nate Hammond and the first after the team's 2015 State Championship win.

Hammond's coaching staff for the camp included M-ettes assistant coach Tyler Hanson and varsity M-ettes Hailey Nicholson, Kaitlyn Smith, Jada Nicholson and Sophia Stiles.

The camp featured drills ranging from fundamental to drills taught on the high school level.

"We spent some time early in the day doing fundamental stations like shooting, dribbling and blocking out," Coach Hammond said. "We also spent time doing some drills like three man weave and shell drills."

Three man weave was a favorite amongst the younger kids, while the older kids loved fast break drills.

"Depends on what kids you asked I guess," Coach Hammond said. "I think what the kids probably enjoyed the most was getting to work with the high school girls."

Coach Hammond favorite thing about holding the camp was showing the young players new things.

"It seems like everything you show them is new to them, so they want to listen, they want to learn and everything is new and exciting to them," Coach Hammond said.
