7th-8th Dodson Girls fall to Nashua in 3C Championship Match

The Junior High Dodson Coyotes Girls' team played a tough Nashua Porcupine team in the final game of the 2015 3C District Tournament but ultimately lost to Nashua 33-26. They made it to the championship by defeating Frazer 47-30 in the semi-final round.

"We played hard," Coach Hunter said. "We came out on fire, ready to play. We were making some good things happen. I think we just let our frustration get the better of us."

Kailee Henry and Christina Jaynes both scored 11 points each in the loss. Izzabella Messerly had four points and Melony Fetter had two points.

Anytime the winning team has only 33 points that means both teams had a pretty stout defensive outing. There were times throughout the game that Nashua broke away into transition, but Dodson stayed with them making huge defensive stops.

"We try to look at the previous games that we have against our opponents and see what we can do to improve or what do we need to do to stop the offense," Coach Hunter said. "You try to look over every possible scenario that you can, I think the girls contended well."

She went on to say that Nashua eventually did find points in transition late in the game and it was frustrating the team.
