Bumping off buffalo in Yellowstone

The National Park Service recently announced plans for a brucellosis quarantine facility for Yellowstone Park bison on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.

The announcement was lauded by environmentalists and park service officials, who hope the facility will reduce the number of bison that end up in a slaughterhouse.

The park had plans to “remove” 900 bison from its population of around 5,000 this year.
