North Country defeats Nashua, falls to Frazer; to face Scobey

The North Country Mavericks split last weekend's games after losing their first game to the Frazer Bearcubs last Friday night in Frazer and then picking up a win against the Nashua Porcupines in Saco.

The team has one lone game this weekend in Scobey to take on the Scobey-Opheim Spartans, a team that defeated them 52-43 on January 8.

In the team's 71-47 win over Nashua, the team was led by Trace Simonson who scored 25 points. Cache Younkin had 16 points. Layne Engel had 11 points. Logan McColly, Channing Mavencamp, John McColly and Austin Leatherberry each had four points. Chris DePuydt had three points.

The Mavericks outscored the Porcupines in all quarters of play, but no quarter was as dominant as the fourth quarter as the team outscored Nashua 27-13. The quarter by quarter scores were: 19-14, 30-22, 44-34 and 71-47.

In Saturday night's loss to Frazer, the final score was 91-57. The win gave Frazer a regular season sweep.

Younkin led the Mavericks with 15 points. Engel had 14 points. Simonson had 12 points. L. McColly had 10 points. DePuydt had four points and Mavencamp had two points.
