Two Way Crossing excited about playing the P.C. Fair

On Friday, August 4, the 102nd Phillips County Fairgrounds will be the site of plenty of musical talent that includes an up-and-coming country music band that moved halfway across the country to start something special in 2014.

That band, Two Way Crossing (TWC), now finds itself headed to Montana's longest running fair along with LoCash, who is currently riding the Billboard Top 100. Two Way Crossing will share the stage with both LoCash and local opening act Trial by Fire starting at 6 p.m. on day one of the P. C. Fair.

Two Way Crossing is currently promoting their summer anthem Gettin' Sun.

"It's just a fun summertime hit," Co-lead vocalist Blake Marvin told the PCN. "Hanging out by the pool, jamming with your friends and gettin' sun."

His wife Jenny Marvin, shared her thoughts in writing the track.

"We just wanted kind of a summer hit that everyone could relate to and play whether they wanted to hang out on the boat and sun tan in the summer," Jenny said.

The band started off as a duo, after Blake and Jenny Marvin met in Colorado seven years ago. The couple has been married for six-and-a-half years and eventually moved to Nashville, Tenn.

"We moved to Nashville about three-and-a-half years ago and started Two Way Crossing," Blake said. "We met Kevin and Jaron pretty much within a week or two of moving out there."

Blake and Jenny bring powerful vocals while Kevin Smith melodically plays guitar and Jaron Mossman holds it down as the band's drummer and percussionist.

The band is a four piece exclusively but there have been other musicians who have toured with the group in past seasons.

"The four of us Jaron, Kevin, Jenny and I make up the heart of Two Way Crossing," Blake said.

On the band's website they mention a few of their favorite artists which include Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift and Little Big Town, a band that has graced the P.C. Fair in the past. According to Blake, these artists have influenced the group in different ways.

"Each of us have a different take on that," Blake said. "Keith Urban is probably more Kevin's influence. Lady Antebellum has probably influenced Jenny and I as well as Little Big Town and Jaron brings in a whole infusion of different influence as well."

Though in ways those influences are different, the frontman explained that those influences are a good thing.

"That's kind of the unique thing about the group is that everybody came from different musical backgrounds and it has really blended nicely to help us form our own thing," Blake said.

The band has been through Montana before and thinks highly of the state.

"Montana is awesome," Blake said. "Montana made such an impression on us that we made a song after it called Big Sky. It's all about the ladies of Montana. We love the Big Sky State, it's gorgeous."

The band has a few other fairs booked in their schedule and it seems they would not have it any other way.

"County Fairs, State Fairs, outdoor events like that and any festival, those are our bread and butter," Blake said. "That's our favorite thing to do all year long. We look forward to it as soon as winter happens until spring, we are ready to go."

Going to their show fans can expect just as much excitement as another big name that came through Montana last June.

"We like to have a good time on stage," Smith, the guitarist said. "One of my biggest influences is Garth Brooks, so I kind of like to compare our show to his show as far as energy. We like to have a good time and we like our audience to have a good time. It's as much of a show for us as it is for them."

This won't be the first time that TWC has opened for LoCash, the band did so at a fair in Missouri during the Fourth of July.

"These guys are awesome," Blake said. "Their show is incredible. On and off the stage, we have nothing but great things to say about both Chris (Lucas), Preston (Brust) and the whole band. They really have something great."

For more information, you can check them out on various social media pages.

"Find us anywhere on social media," Mossman, the drummer said. "Whatever your favorite spot is Facebook, Instagram, Spotify, iTunes, all of our tour dates are on our website, Twowaycrossing.com. You can see a lot of behind the scenes stuff on Instagram, Snapchat. All of our new stuff is on YouTube... There is content all over the place."
