Mavs pick up two 3C wins

Simonson scores 27 points in win over Frazer

The North Country Mavericks picked up a pair of conference wins this weekend as they defeated both Lustre and Frazer.

The Mavs traveled to Lustre to defeat the Lustre Christian Lions 57-43 on Friday, January 12.

North Country had three scorers put up double digits, including Trace Simonson who had a game-leading 20 points, while knocking down five treys.

Austin Leatherberry had 11 points, Chris DePuydt had ten. Wrangler Jones, Loden Idler and Jesse Lee each had four points. Jon Taylor had three points and Ty Murphy had one point.

The Mavericks would go on to face Frazer in Saco for Saco High School's Senior Night, where Christ DePuydt, Bailey Funk, Chandler Pippin, Jada Sudbrack, Challise Young and Sydney Zeller were each honored with their families.

North Country would go on to defeat Frazer 66-40.

Simonson scored a game-high 27 points, 16 of which came in the second half. Simonson was 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.

Idler scored 11 points, Murphy added nine points, Jones had eight points. Leatherberry and John McColly had four points. Jon Taylor had two points and Lee had one point.

North County outscored Frazer 37-16 in the first half.

The Mavericks are scheduled to face the Brockton Warriors in Whitewater on Friday, January 19. They will then travel to Glasgow to take on the Scotties on Saturday, January 20.
