Sheriff's Office investigates, asks for help in thefts

Sometime during the evening hours of Wednesday, July 31, 2019, person or persons broke into several vehicles and residences in Malta. It’s unclear exactly what was taken in each incident. A person of interest was interviewed pertaining to these incidents. Due to the fact these are on-going investigations, no further information can be released at this time.

Sometime during the evening hours of Thursday, August 1, 2019, person or persons broke into a vehicle and stole a wallet. In a possibly related incident, a vehicle was stolen. The stolen ve-hicle is a blue 2004 GMC Yukon with Montana personalized plate ‘TRULVE.’

UPDATE: On Friday, August 2, 2019, at approximately 1640 hours, the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a phone call from the Minnesota State Police dispatch stating they had locat-ed our stolen vehicle, Montana personalized plate TRULVE, and had a suspect in custody. As this is still an ongoing investigation, no further information may be released at this time.
