50th Annual Milk River Wagon train hits the trail starting Wednesday August 28

The 50th Annual Milk River Wagon Train hits the trail starting on Wednesday, August 28 to start the six-day trek from Zortman to Malta and crossing nearly 50 miles in the process.

The Wednesday gathering will take place at 39 Miles S. of Malta (1st Zortman turn off), Highway 191 and the Thursday portion of the trek will cover 10 miles and end 32 miles south of Malta with the Memorial Service at noon camp. Friday will include a 10-mile trek and ends 24 miles south of Malta on Hwy 191.

Saturday will see another 15 miles on the trail and end 19 miles south of Malta and that night will feature the Land Owners Dinner.

Sunday’s journey will cover another 20 miles and will end six miles south of Malta near Highway 364 and on Monday, September 2, (Labor Day) the wagon train will convene in the Westside Self Service parking lot before the parade through Malta starting at 11 a.m. There will be a no-host lunch at Trafton Park following the parade with a Ranch Rodeo to follow. Copies of the Nilk River Wagon Train map can also be obtained at Westside Self Service, the Mint Bar, and the Stockman.
