Bear Paw Development To Sponsor Google Workplace Workshop

Phillips County native Riley Mortenson, who serves as the COVID-19 Small Business Advisor for Bear Paw Development Corporation, will be leading a “Mastering Google Workplace” workshop in Malta on Thursday, July 22nd from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The workshop will be at the Malta Business Center Conference Room, located at 46 South First Street East.

“Not a fan of paying for Microsoft Office? Have you tried Google Workspace? This is a great workshop to get a general idea of how Google Workspace works and the different publications it offers. We will cover Google Drive, Docs, Drawings, Sheets, Slides, and Forms,” Mortenson said.

Google Workspace is a collection of cloud computing, productivity and collaboration tools, software and products developed and marketed by Google. It was first launched in 2006 as Google Apps and rebranded as G Suite in 2016. The education edition adds a learning platform Google Classroom and today has the name Workspace for Education.

While most of these services are individually available at no cost to consumers who use their free Google accounts, Google Workspace adds enterprise features such as custom email addresses at a domain, an option for unlimited Drive storage, additional administrative tools and advanced settings, as well as 24/7 phone and email support.

Also, Google Workspace administrators can fine-tune security and privacy settings. In June 2021, Google announced that Workspace would be available for everyone with a Google account, giving consumers access to the upgraded Gmail experience previously only available to paying subscribers.

“We are very excited to bring this worthwhile workshop to Malta and hope folks take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about Google Workspace and how it may be able to benefit them,” Mortenson noted.

Mortenson noted that people can register for the workshop at https://mtsbdc.ecenterdirect.com/events/5137 or at the time of the event. Cost for the workshop is $10 and can be paid at the time of the training. Participants are reminded to bring a laptop for this workshop.
