One Nation, Under God

Montana Talks Radio Show Comes to Malta

On Thursday, October 15, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., listeners around the state were able to listen to voices from Malta and the Phillips County area, as Aaron Flint the host of Montana Talks, set up in the Missouri River Realty (MRR) office.

Malta was one of Flint’s stops for Montana Talks’ Hometown Handshake Tour.

“It went really great,” Flint said of the show. “I know a lot of our rancher friends are busy working cattle.”

The tour is taking Montana Talks around the state. Flint said that the event has given him a good chance to meet people as well as open up the microphone.

“Some people may not call into the show, but if you’re there in person they may join you on the microphone,” Flint said. “It’s really just a good chance to put a spotlight on Malta and Phillips County. The good things that are happening and then some of the bigger issues.”

One topic of discussion was trucking issues and shortages in the supply chain. Another issue discussed was the removal of pipe laid in northern Phillips County for the Keystone Pipeline.

“We have a guy in Phillips County who knows all about the trucking issues and supply chains, so we are giving you real-time insight on a major national issue, but we are also separating fact from fiction on it as well with someone here from one of our local communities,” Flint said.

Flint, a native of Glasgow, and current resident of Billings, spoke to community members of Phillips County on the airwaves of KMMR-Malta about several topics from local to national issues in politics, and agriculture, in a discussion setting.

“I always get nostalgic when I get on Highway 2 and see the Amtrak trains running,” Fint said. “And now that I am doing a state-wide, it is always fun to get an excuse to come back and visit family and friends along of the way.”

Jim Knudsen, owner of Missouri River Realty was asked by KMMR if they would like to host the event.

“We sponsor him, he is state-wide, we like what he talks about in his program, we follow him and that’s why he is here today,” Knudsen said. “It was really nice because of all of the people that came along.”

The MRR staff was present, along with Montana Respresentive Casey Knudsen, and various others that drove to MRR to talk with Flint on or off of the air.

After the show, a concerned listener from the Robinson Ranch shared her concerns about crossing the Canadian Border. The issue involved the use of the ArriveCan application, which is now necessary to cross the border.

Montana Talks is a state-wide radio show, which airs on KMMR-Malta from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday.
