Lady Panthers third in Havre, Panthers ninth

The Saco Panthers and Lady Panthers track teams fared well at the Havre Invitational Meet on Friday, April 8.

The Saco teams were the lone team from Phillips County participating in the event. The Lady Panthers took third out of 14 teams, while the Panther boys were ninth out of 14.

Lady Panthers

The Lady Panthers took third at the Havre Invitational despite only having five athletes. The team consisted of Senior Jaycee Erickson, sophomores Teagan Erickson, Josie Brown, Abby Yeska, and freshman Jessa Erickson.

Class A's Havre Track Team won the meet with 113 points. Conrad (Class B) was second with 84 points. Big Sandy was fourth with 59.5 points. North Toole County (Sunburst) was fifth with 56 points.

Saco was led by sophomore Teagan Erickson, who took first place in the triple jump with a length of 34-3.5 and first in high jump by clearing a season-high of 5-2. She was also second in javelin with a throw of 101-5 and third in long jump with a leap of 15-4.25.

Senior Jaycee Erickson won the javelin event with a season's best of 116-0. She was third in pole vault after clearing 7-6. J. Erickson threw shot put for the first team in her career and was ninth with a throw of 26-0.

Brown took third place in the 100 with a time of 13.73 seconds, third in the 400 with a personal best of 1:06.68, fourth in the 200 with a time of 28.68, and seventh in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 54.77.

Yeska took sixth place in discus and shot put. She had a personal best of 86-10.5 in discus and a throw of 27.8 in shot put. She also posted a throw of 51-6 in javelin.

Jessa Erickson was seventh in discus with a personal best of 86-0.5. Her previous best was 74-2. She was eighth in shot put with a throw of 26-5. She had a personal best of 67-5 in javelin and was 18th overall. Jessa also posted a leap of 10-5.75 in long jump.

Panthers

The Panthers scored a total of 18 points in the boys meet and were ninth as a team. Havre won the meet with a total of 172 points. Chinook was second with 117.5 points, Chester-Joplin-Inverness (CJI) was third with 82.33 points, Big Sandy was fourth with 59.5.

The Panthers were led by sophomore Marshall Caves who took third place in pole vault by clearing a personal best of 10-6. He posted a best of 14.04 seconds in the 100 which was 32nd in the event, Caves also had a jump of 14-4.5 in long jump.

Freshman Blaine Downing was fourth in pole vault and triple jump after posting new bests of 10-6 and 36-11 respectively. Downing also ran the 400 and took seventh with a time of 1:00.16. He was ninth in high jump after clearing 5-2 and eleventh in javelin with a personal best of 112-5.5.

Senior Dylan Brown was sixteenth in javelin with a personal best of 104-0. He posted a throw of 77-5.5 in discus and 29-1.25 in shot put. He also posted a season's best of 14.55 in the 100.
