He wasn’t born here,

but he got here as fast as he could

Hmm…not zoned for that area…?

From the Sheriff’s Log: 6:28 pm. A male reported a female selling “Dawn dish soap” in a residential area. Deputy handled the call.

Missing a few points

The Saco-Whitewater Panther boys’ basketball team were aided by six points from each of Justin Funk, Blake Weyrauch, and Jeret Warren, and still fell short 48-29 on Friday.

Really? Does anyone?

From Mrs. Carney’s 5th grade (re: New Year’s Resolution): Elly Stolem-Davis: My sister Kayla said her new year’s resolution was not to talk to me so meanly so like that. My New year’s resolution is not to fight with my friends. For one reason I got better things to do than fight with other kids. I also don’t want to get into trouble. For another thing I don’t like fighting. Most importantly, I absolutely hate the principal’s office.

Nothing to it!

Senior Tate Carney had a pair of treys from the corner to lead all scorers and boost the Mustangs to an 82-47 win over the Harlem Wildcats.

Tragedy strikes - twice

Two sisters, Agnes Barrett, 20, and Ethel Barrett Lawson, 18, were killed instantly when their stalled car was struck head-on by the Empire Builder at about 2:20 in the afternoon on Saturday. Coroner Wilford Bell, Sheriff Frank Partridge, and Undersheriff Pete Kaufman were called to investigate the accident, Sheriff Partridge said he had never seen a car so completely demolished in a collision. A coroner’s jury convened Monday and after an hour of deliberation came back with the verdict that the accident was caused by improper stop signals at the crossing.

The happiness of Christmas

The Christmas program at the Box Elder school Saturday night given by Miss Alma Coe, was a grand success. The children were well trained and gave good results - as Alma’s pupils always do – and after the program, the crowd danced to good music furnished by Mr. Grant and the Blunt boys. A lunch was served and all went home having a good time.

Support the cause

Dr. Setzer, county health officer, said in a statement the united efforts of all groups in the community are needed to irradiate tuberculosis. He commended the work of the Montana Tuberculosis Association and urged the support and sale of its Christmas Seal.

Welcome home, if even for a little while

The bride wore a beige gabardine suit with brown accessories and a corsage centered with a purple orchid. Her matron of honor was Patricia Jordan who wore a light grey suit with black accessories and a corsage of red roses.

SHOTS FIRED!

Loren Tolbert was in a Malta hospital with five bullet wounds in his body as a result of a show in Dodson. Tolbert volunteered to be hypnotized at the show.

The hypnotist declared Tolbert was too intoxicated and sent him off stage.

A disturbance ensued and Tolbert was thrown out of the hall.

He returned with a gun in his hand. The hypnotist made his exit through the stage curtain and women and children stampeded for the doors of the hall. Tolbert went…

And…that my friends, is where the story ends. I told you the archive books were in rough/tough shape. This is the only part of the 100 years ago that was salvageable. I guess this is where you finish the story as you want it to end, or ask an elderly person (a walking history book) if anyone ever shared this story with them. If so, let me know and we’ll run a “Paul Harvey and the Rest of the Story.”
