PCMS Second Weekend Recap

The Hi-Line Drag Strip featured over 50 cars for the second weekend of Phillips County Motorsports races despite it being a rainy weekend.

"We had some rain delays on Saturday," PCMS President Dan Stout said. "There were just enough drops to stop us from running. We waited it out and got the race in."

Stout and others were watching the radar for Sunday's race, the team and the racers decided to run an expedited event on Sunday, not stopping the action for a lunch break but instead powering through to beat the storm. The races concluded at 1:30 p.m.

"We beat the rain and we thought that we looked pretty smart," Stout said.

He also said that they were pretty short on cars last weekend because of the rain.

"A lot of times, if it looks like it will rain, people will stay home and I don't blame them," Stout said. "We had 57 cars and we had a good weekend."

The event featured drivers from, Phillips, Hill, Valley and other counties around the state and even out of staters from North Dakota and Canada.

"The people are nice and we had a lot of good quality cars," Stout said. "The thing that is nice about drag racing is the friends that you make and the camaraderie. We BBQ after the race is over and visit. It's just a good time hanging out with friends and talking about cars, racing, and everything in general."
