Jaynes Family Wins Big at the Fair AMX Races

The 108th Phillips County Fair AMX Races served as the last Arena event for the fair on Sunday, August 6.

It was a big day for the Jaynes family who nearly swept all of the main events that day.

Jamie Jaynes won the A Main Stock event, edging out Great Falls' Dustin McKinney.

"It feels amazing, I'll never get tired of the feeling of accomplishment because it's not easy," Jaynes said. "We put in a lot of time getting these cars going each year to get them where they are."

Jaynes has won the A Main two years in a row and three times out of the last five years.

His car saw success for the rest of the night as his mother Wendy Jaynes won the Powderpuff races and father Robert Jaynes won the Pitman Race.

To put icing on the cake, prior to the A Main, Jamie's younger brother David won the B Main Stock Race.

"It's really great to see my little brother take the B main, me take the a main, and then my mom and dad winning the Powderpuff and Pitman," Jaynes said. "It's always a great day when your entire family is successful!"

Austin Jaynes of Great Falls was third in the A Main Stock. Malta's Luke Brown was fourth, Koltin Hougrose of Belt was fifth, and Anthony Jaynes of Great Falls was sixth.

McKinney won the A Main Mod. Jerry Williams of Lewistown was second. Brown was third and Lewistown's Austin Glidwell was fourth.

David Jaynes was the B Main Stock's winner. Malta's Gerome Lamb was second, Malta's Colten Pekovitch was third, Casey Tucker, also from Malta, was fourth, and Daryl Demarais of Malta was fifth.

"It's just really awesome to have the local guys running on the top," Jamie Jaynes said. "And I definitely wouldn't be able to do any of it without the support of my wife, Raven, and my kids Saylor and Stetson, and just my entire family."

The Jaynes Family have had a car in the Dodson races since they began in 1998. Bill Jaynes, Rob Jaynes, Russell Jaynes, Joe Crowder, and Randy Rhoads built the track. Brown has been racing for 25 years but didn't race at the Dodson track in it's first season.

Brown's car, a 1973 Chevy Impala, is the longest running car at the Dodson Fair. It has been running for 22 years straight.
