    McCone Co. deer The case concerning the poaching of ten deer in McCone Co. last fall has been settled in McCone Co. Justice Court. Two high school-aged males were found guilty on multiple wildlife violations for events that took place on Oct. 15, 2017, prior to the opening of general deer season. In this case, Region 6 Game Wardens confirmed a total of ten dead deer, most of which were shot with a shotgun using loads typically used for pheasants.     Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks wants to remind anglers that as reservoir water temperatures increase, mortality associated with catch and release also increases. A study published in 2011 in The North American Journal of Fisheries Management found that walleye catch and release mortality rate rose from 0-1.8% with water temps below 68° F to nearly 16% when water temps were above 68° F.     Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Region 6 biologists have completed their 2018 winter and spring aerial surveys of deer populations across northeastern Montana, which are used to help determine management recommendations.     Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks biologists have completed the 2018surveys of the Missouri River Breaks (MRB) and Bears Paw elk herds in Region 6. The aerial surveys were completed in February and March by Region 6 biologists Brett Dorak, Scott Hemmer and Drew Henry. Overall, survey results found elk numbers in the Missouri River Breaks were down from the last survey, while elk numbers in the Bears Paw herd were up from last year.     Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Region 6 game wardens are seeking any information regarding a headless white-tailed buck that was recently left at the Saco dump about two miles south of Saco off the Larb Creek Rd.     Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks game wardens are seeking information on 21 wasted Canada geese, likely shot in mid to late December, that were found on the banks of Brazil Creek just west of Paulo Reservoir, about 10 miles from Glasgow. Twenty-two geese were found, including one that was completely processed. The other 21 had only the breasts removed.     Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks game wardens are seeking information from the public about the poaching of a bull elk on the Warrick Road in the Bears Paw Mountains. Warden Andy Matakis said the bull elk was found on private land approximately 5.5 miles west of Warrick. The elk was likely shot on Dec. 29 or 30.
