    A state-of-the-technology nuclear fast attack submarine to be named the USS Montana now has a statewide committee to support its crew and its eventual commissioning into the U.S. Navy fleet. The announcement of the formation and operation of the USS Montana Committee was made in Kalispell at a semi-annual meeting of Montana U.S. Navy veterans who have served on submarines.     The Malta Mustangs were only able to score a few points in last Saturday’s Northern B Divisional at Scottie Field in Glasgow. The team placed tenth at the meet. The team will be taking two athletes with senior Jace Bishop being the lone returner.     The Malta M-ettes took fourth place with 75 points as a team in the highly competitive Northern B Track and Field Invitational last Saturday at Scottie Field in Glasgow. Glasgow won the meet with 103.33 points. Fairfield was second with 88 points. Choteau was third with 82.     The Women’s Eastern C Divisional took place last Thursday and three Phillips County Track teams placed athletes that will go on to State this weekend. Westby-Grenora (Mon-Dak) took first at the meet with 136 points. Scobey was second with 93 and Savage was third with 36.5. Saco took seventh with 33 points and nearly got stuck in a three way tie with Richey-Lambert and Frazer who each had 34 points.     The Saco Panthers, Whitewater Penguins and Dodson Coyotes were all represented in the Eastern C Divisional in Wolf Point last Thursday. The Penguins took eighth with 27 points and Saco tied for tenth with 8 points. Scobey won the meet with 129 points. Richey-Lambert took second with 108 and Savage took third with 59.     The season has ended for Phillips County golf teams as Malta and Saco both had golfers in their respective State Meets last week. Sophomore Kloie Marks was Malta’s lone golfer at the 2017 State Golf Meet in Shelby. It was her first trip to state as an individual having golfed in the 2016 meet with her team.
