    On Saturday afternoon, 15 Malta City and Phillips County Volunteer Firefighters spent their morning in a classroom in the Malta Fire Hall before taking what they learned outside and applied it a mobile burn unit pulled by a semi.     On Wednesday, April 8, at the Annual Women of Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (WELCA ) no host luncheon, Ruth Flansaas was honored as a "Faithful Quilter." Ruth and John moved from their Loring farm into Malta and she started the Hands All Around quilting club in their basement. Her first quilt was made with the help of Grace Simser.     Kelsey Kuehn, a senior at Malta High School, has been selected to receive the Fred L. Robinson Scholarship for 2015. This scholarship has been awarded annually to a Phillips County senior to honor past businessman Fred L. Robinson. The amount of the scholarship this year is $6,000. Kelsey is the Valedictorian of her senior class at Malta High School. She has been very involved with a number of clubs and organizations, as well as being a three sports athlete.
