Phillips County Plan for Community Assessment with Statewide Resource Team

Community members are asked to “Save the Date” of Wednesday, October 22, 2014 and plan now to participate in a community assessment that will include multiple Listening Sessions throughout the day and culminate in a Town Meeting that evening at 7:00 PM.

The Community Assessment is a planning process that brings a team of resource providers and economic development specialists from across the State to Malta for one and half days to tour the community and listen to its residents and turn what they learn into an action plan to help Malta and Phillips County identify and reach identified economic development goals.

A local task force, led by the PhillCo Economic Growth Council has secured event sponsors and endorsements from the City of Malta, Town of Saco, Phillips County and the Malta Area Chamber of Commerce to host the assessment in partnership with the Montana Economic Develop-ers Association (MEDA) and the Montana Department of Commerce.

The task force is working to foster as much community participation as possible and is currently working with community sectors and groups in recruiting individuals to attend the Listening Sessions. Participants in the sessions will be invited to respond to three questions:

• What are your community’s major strengths and assets?

• What are your community’s problems and challenges?

• What projects would you like to see in your community? Your vision? Your preferred future?

Specific times and locations for the Listening Sessions and the Town Hall meeting will be announced soon. All community members are invited to participate.
