Phillips County Sheriff's Office catches fugitive who fled

On February 15, 2015 at approximately 5:30 a.m., Phillips County Dispatch received a call of a disturbance at the GN Hotel. When a deputy arrived, he contacted a female who stated her vehicle was taken without her permission.

She stated that her boyfriend, Keith Baylor of Great Falls, Montana, had taken the car the previous night, wrecked it and then returned. When the deputy located Baylor and attempted to place him into custody, he fled. Additional deputies were called out to locate Baylor.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., Baylor was located two miles West of Malta and taken into custody. He was cited for Felony Criminal Mischief, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, Leaving the Scene of a Vehicle Accident and Failure to Give Notice of Accident by Quickest Means.

Baylor who also had Probation and Parole warrant out of Lake County was arraigned and transported to Valley County Detention Center where he is being held with a combined bond of $70,000.

During the time Baylor was eluding custody, he went to several homes asking for money or to use the telephone. The sheriff’s office didn’t receive any calls reporting this. Sheriff Moran asks that if anyone suspicious comes to your door, or if you see anything else suspicious, please call and we will respond.
