Visitors from Across The U.S., abroad to Dino Museum

Visitation to the Great Plains Dinosaur Museum was up slightly in 2014 compared to the previous year. The total number of visitors in 2014 was 2,556 and of the 2230 registered visitors, 1160 were from Montana.

With nearly 50% visitation from out of state, top visitors at GPDM were from the states of Washington, California and Michigan and the only states with no visitors were Connecticut, Mississippi, Vermont or Delaware.

Six (6) Canadian providences were represented and foreign visitors were from Malaysia, Dominica, South Africa, France, Norway, UK, Australia, Japan and Canada.

According to state tourism research, the average daily expenditure per out of state visitor group (of 2.5 people) to Phillips County is $138.77. Utilizing this factor with out of state visitors to GPDM, nearly $60,000 in direct revenue was spent locally on fuel, food, lodging and other expenses in Malta and Phillips County this past year.

It’s the continued goal of GPDM to improve and strengthen our annual visitation while having a positive impact in the local economy.
