Malta's Mummey to attend University of Mary

Amanda Mummey of Malta is among hundreds of new students about to pursue a degree at the University of Mary in Bismarck, starting fall semester 2015.

"We are pleased and grateful to welcome these new freshmen to our growing University of Mary family, and are proud to have them participate in the innovative, values-based learning experience that distinguishes a Mary education," says President Monsignor James Shea. "Our programs prepare students to be competent, courageous, ethical leaders in their professions and their communities. The university's setting in the thriving North Dakota capital of Bismarck offers abundant opportunities for students to complement their academics with hands-on experience and network with businesses and organizations. The joy and perspective they gain and relationships they establish will benefit them for a lifetime."

Mummey, a graduate of Malta High School, is active in volleyball, cheerleading, speech, drama, Re-Act, Key Club and student council. She's a member of the National Honor Society, earned distinguished secretary and president honors in Key Club and took third place in the Voice of Democracy speech contest. Mummey plans to major in radiologic technology and participate in Circle K and band while attending the University of Mary. She is the daughter of Rocky and Paula Mummey of Malta.

As a Christian, Catholic, Benedictine institution, the University of Mary offers education for the whole of life through cutting-edge professional programs grounded in a solid liberal arts tradition.

Founded in 1959 by the Benedictine Sisters of Annunciation Monastery, Mary offers nearly 60 undergraduate, and 14 master's degrees, and three doctoral programs in Education, Nursing Practice, and Physical Therapy.
