The Malta Mustangs track team placed third at the Glasgow Invitational with 69 points in their first meet of the season. They placed eighth in last Saturday's Havre Lions Invitational while scoring 32 points and seventh in last Wednesday's Cal Wearley Memorial Meet (CWM) after scoring 23.5 points.

Devon Raybon won the high jump at the Cal Wearley tying with four other athletes at the 5-10 height. Raybon also tied for first in the high jump at the Glasgow meet after clearing 6-0. Raybon took sixth in the triple jump in Glasgow after leaving a mark at 36-0.

Dominic Judd took second in both the 110 and 300 hurdle event at the Lions Meet with times of 15.90 and 43.40 respectively. Judd also placed second in both hurdle events in Glasgow with a time of 17.26 in the 110 hurdles and a time of 45.02 in the 300 hurdles.

Judd placed fifth in the Glasgow Invitational's high jump event after clearing 5-2. Jace Bishop also cleared 5-2 and took sixth.

Judd was the first leg in Malta's long relay team consisting of Ostin Welch, Antonio Lopez and Allen Williamson that took first place with a time of 4:06.52. The long relay team also took third at the Lions meet with a time of 3:54.1

The short relay team consisting of Judd, Williamson, Lopez and Carney took third with a time of 47.27.

Tyson Carney took second in the javelin throw in Glasgow after leaving a mark at 162-2. He also took fourth in the 400 in Glasgow with a time of 56.18.

Williamson took third in long jump at the CWM after leaving a mark at 19-0. He also took third in the long jump in Havre after a jump of 18-7. He placed fourth in the Long Jump in Glasgow with a jump of 18-8 ½.

Lopez took sixth in the shot put event at the Glasgow meet after posting a throw of 39-1 ½. Lopez also ran the 100 at both the Glasgow meet and the CWM. He posted a new personal best at the CWM of 12.74.

"I feel pretty good," Lopez said. "I didn't have the best start but I caught up at the end."

Now a senior, Lopez hasn't run track since his freshman year but he has been a great addition to the team.

"I just feel like I'm in better shape now because I've been keeping active more so than when I was a freshman," Lopez said.

Tel Jensen took sixth place in the 110 hurdles at the CWM posting a time of 17.6.

Sophomore Travis Epperson has been off to a strong start posting new personal bests in all four of his events this season including the 400 (61.75), shot put (27-11 ¼) and javelin (91-5) in Glasgow and new best in discus at the CWM (73-1).

He did junior varsity javelin and discus at the CWM.

"I'm feeling a little bit more confident than last year but I'm just kind of here to improve and get better, so I can do better when I'm older," Epperson said. "Javelin went alright, not as well as it was in Glasgow."'

The wind was blowing pretty hard in Havre at the CWM.

"It was basically coming towards me as I threw," he said.

Epperson was planning on running in the long relay. He shared his plans for his lap.

"Last week I did the 400. I was running pretty fast at the start and I kind of ran out of gas at the end," he said. "So I just gotta try to get a good pace and sprint out whatever energy I have left at the end."
