Malta track placers at Scottie Meet

On Monday, April 17, the Malta track teams participated at the cold and windy Scottie Qualifier meet in Glasgow.

Sophia Stiles took first place in four events during her first meet of the season. She won high jump after clearing 5-4, a new personal best.

Stiles won the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.34, long jump with a leap of 16-8 and triple jump with a length of 35-2 ½. She also posted a throw of 27-5 ½ in her first time competing in shot put.

Jayce Bishop took first place in javelin with a throw of 178-9, a new personal best. He also took second in high jump clearing 5-8.

Shay Garfield took second in discus with a throw of 95-0. She also took fourth in shot put with a throw of 30-5 ½.

Jada Nicholson saw her first action of the year and took second in high jump after clearing 5-0.

Jillian O’Brien took fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:53.77 and fourth in high jump after clearing 4-8.

The Boy’s long relay team consisting of Travis Epperson, Andres Lopez, Kolter Schipman and Tyson Jones took fourth place with a time of 4:09.81.

Kaylanna Bain took fifth in the 200 with a personal best of 31.62.

The Girls’ long relay time consisting of Kelbee Denham, Nicholson, Ella Schye and O’Brien took fourth with a time of 30-5 ½.

The Boys’ short relay consisting of Bishop, Epperson, Lopez and Cru Darrah took fifth with a time of 51.92.

The team also participated in their home meet, the Malta Athletic Club Invitational on Tuesday, April 25 an event that will be covered in the May 3 issue of the PCN.
