Little M-ette Volleyball Camp

The 2017 Little M-ette Volleyball Camp featured over thirty campers who focused on the fundamentals of the game last Monday, June 26 through Wednesday, June 27.

"Camp was really great," M-ette Co-Coach Kalli Reintjes said. "We had a really good turnout and we had a large amount of high school students that helped out this week, so they got a lot of one on one with high schoolers."

Current M-ettes at the event were Ella Schye, Kloie Marks, Sam Mitchell, Janessa Malmend, Macy Knudsen, Raina Mortenson, Macy Williamson and Kaylanna Bain, as well as incoming freshmen Kyleigh Hunter, Annabelle Giblette, Lauren Doney, Sidney Meeks and Erica Smith.

The campers were girls entering fourth through eighth grade.

“We worked a lot on the fundamentals like passing and setting,” Coach Reintjes said. “We worked on the overhand serve, which is really a hard skill for the younger kids to learn but they did a great job.”

The camp also served as a promotion for the sport.

“We really want them to learn that volleyball is really fun and the basics of the game,” Coach Reintjes said.

The campers participated in several games and drills but the favorite was a game called pile up.

“Three girls stack on top of each other, we bounce the ball and their goal is to get three touches and get it over the net,” Coach Reintjes said. “So it’s kind of chaotic when they are scrambling around and it’s full of laughs.”

There were plenty of awards handed out at the conclusion of the three day camp. Hailey Judd, Denver Tuss and Maddie Williamson were each named Camper of the Day. Lauren Tuss was named Miss Volleyball. Eve Yeadon took the title of Most Improved while Kaylee Bishop was named the Camp MVP.

In the team events the 6 x 6 champions were Allison Kunze, Addison Ulrich, Macey Blunt, Kenzie LaBrie, Shaylee Hines and Kylie Hunter. Janessa Malmend and Kaylanna Bain were the coaches.

The 4 X 4 champions among the older campers were Macy Williamson, Erica Smith, Tia Siewing, Allison Kunze and Giona Lamb. The younger 4 x 4 champs were Raina Mortenson, Janessa Malmend, Eva Yeadon, McKinley Skiff and Danika Wilke.

The 3 X 3 champions among the older campers were Addy Anderson, Rylee Hines and Kaylee Bishop. The younger 3 X 3 champs were Raina Mortenson, Eva Yeadon and Alex Oshio.," Coach Reintjes said.
