What has been going at the National Guard Armory in Malta near the Phillips County Hospital and Hi-Line Retirement Center is cement has begun being poured for the foundation of the building About a week ago, I got to help take old seats out of the Villa Theatre as they continue to remodel the inside of the building. There was a bunch of Malta Mustang Football players and coaches there to help get the seats outside and some of them were taken to people’s houses. Also, about a week ago I got to w...

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Oct 9, 2019

I got to watch a construction truck pour concrete for a basement across from the Phillips County Courthouse where a private residence is being built. I have also been watching the construction crew put the new gray metal roof on the MOI building and looks to almost be done as of last Wednesday. This month, I also got to take two construction workers to Dairy Queen in Malta and they were Tom Peterson and Tom Flatt. It was my way of telling them thank you for doing such a good job on the MOI...

County Court House, a resident is putting Styrofoam forms to build a foundation for a home. Last Wednesday, they also started pouring the concrete for the new basement for that house. Another thing I saw was watching the work crew putting new metal shingles on the roof at MOI as well as new fiberglass insulation. I also got to go inside the Villa Theatre again and got to watch them work on fixing-up the bathrooms. It seems that when they re-open the theatre, rumor has it that a new pop machine...

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Sep 11, 2019

Over Labor Weekend Day a new step was installed at the Boys and Girls Club in Malta by Ray Harms. I believe Malta Ready Mix helped with the job as well. At the MOI, they have been working on the plumbing in the bathrooms. Rumor has it that the laundromat will be opening by November, though nothing is yet official. I watched workers at the Villa Theatre put in new glass in the front doors as the old glass was somewhat worn out and broken. I also got to watch Aron and Christina Riggs do some...

  • Malta construction updates for Sept. 4

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Sep 4, 2019

This week I saw the Davis Glass Shop put in new doors and windows at the MOI entry way. Also, last week, I watched them get rid of a door that was old, unused and had been boarded up with wood and replaced it with a new, usable door. When I was working at MOI, I got to tour the building where the Phillips County News and Malta Heating and Plumbing used to be located. Carmen Norville and her family are currently doing construction in that building as she prepares to open her business at that...

A new shed has been built at Art’s Furniture in Malta in the alley that is next to Central Ave. Pit Crew. It is my guess that they will store mattresses and other furniture in the shed. About a month ago, I went to Seattle and got to go on a boat ride with my family. While on the boat we saw some containers that go on freight trains. When I was in Seattle near the pier, I also got to see some jelly fish swimming in the water. I also ate seafood, including fish dishes. As for the MOI c...

When I got back from my vacation in Portland, Ore., I noticed that the crew working at MOI was pouring fresh cement behind the building at the east end, near the alley. They poured the cement on Monday and they are digging up ground behind the building. They have also been doing some work inside the MOI building and the laundromat. As of Wednesday, people may access some portions of the building from the front entrance. While I was on vacation, I went to the Pacific Ocean, at Greyland and...

  • Stormy conditions in Malta

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Jul 17, 2019

On Sunday morning, I came across a felled tree near the Malta Woman's Club House on 4th Street. The storm happened a week ago, and maybe lighting struck it and knocked it down, or maybe it was the high winds and we did have a tornado warning in effect the night before....

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Jul 10, 2019

This week I took some photos of construction on the Malta Boys and Girls Club Building (the old St. Mary's School) in Malta as well as more construction photos at MOI. They are pouring cement at MOI in front of the building and work continues on the laundromat, which will be closed longer than expected, but you can still have your laundry done by the MOI staff. And then, at the Boys and Girls Club they are working on reroofing the building and even though construction is ongoing, the Boys and...

Here is all that has been going on at the Malta Opportunities Inc., building. The laundromat is going to be smaller and the lockers will be in a different place. Clausen and Sons recently removed the front facia of the building, ripped out the concrete patios in front of the old building and construction seems to be going smoothly. The new NAPA Auto Parts - Lloyd's Auto Supply located next to Malta City Hall, recently received new pavement between the two buildings for a parking lot. Also, the...
