    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Sep 23, 2020

One thing I am excited for is the empty warehouse building across from Stretch’s. It hasn’t fallen down yet, but if it does, Malta Ready Mix might put a building there. Earlier this months, I got to help workers across the street across from the Phillips County Hospital which is being remodeled. If you have any construction news please call me at 654-2533....

While I was on vacation, one of the things I got to do was ride the Spokane Gondola and I got to see a waterfall. Also, I went to a restaurant in Wallace, Idaho, called the 13 Club where I had a pulled pork sandwich and it was good. When I was in Sand Point, I went to Lake Pondera where my family and I got to wade in the water. Our family vacation was 13 days and we had a good time. As for construction, the house being remodeled across the street from the Phillips County Hospital and Family Heal...

  • Malta Construction Updates for 7.29.20

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Jul 29, 2020

Workers have been putting final touches on the home across from the Phillips County Courthouse which had a basement installed this past winter. It looks nice. A week ago, Short Oil Road was closed so workers could repave portions of it. As far as I know, it has been many years since it was repaved. That works continue this week. Work also continues across from the former location of the NAPA store and I still hear that a new building might be built there in years to come. The building was...

The warehouse across the street the old NAPA building is being taken apart and moved on 1st Street in Malta. I believe Malta Ready Mix is going to put a new building at this location. A week ago, I was riding my bike near the Malta Elementary School, I got to watch Derrick Welch use a machine to start building a driveway to a private residence near the alley. Across the street from the Phillips County Courthouse, Malta Ready Mix poured concrete for a private residence where a driveway was being...

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Jul 1, 2020

6-24. They have been putting in new water pipes in the Municipal Pool bathhouse in Malta. Workers have been getting new windows put in, replacing the old, worn out windows. A week ago, when I was with Rachel Drabbs, we were driving and Chris Booth was with us, they were working on the streets where the Malta City Shop used to be, also working on water pipes ... 5th street behind the elementary school. From the Nicholson house across from the hospital, I am hoping Malta Ready Mix can bring me a...

The Nicholson House, located across the street from the Phillips County Hospital and Family Health Clinic, looks like they are doing some remodeling in Malta, perhaps removing a fireplace. Last week, I watched workers put up the new marquee sign at the Villa Theatre. It looks good. Sometime this summer, I hope my parents can take me to Glasgow so I can take a look at the old Shopko building because I still hear that Albertsons is moving there. I hope to get some before and after pictures and if...

  • Malta construction updates with David Veseth May 13, 2020

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|May 13, 2020

A week ago, I got to watch the City of Malta Public Works Crew use a jackhammer to break-up concrete inside the bathhouse at the Municipal Pool. It seems like the work there is coming along pretty well. Another thing I got to do was watch the workers take old materials out of the pool, including rotten wood, chunks of concrete, and other materials as they continue to work towards getting the pool open for the 2020 season. The plumbers will be putting in new plumbing including new sinks and...

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Apr 29, 2020

I got to watch some work being done on some pipes across the street from the Sportsman Motel on Highway 2 and I believe the pipes were water pipes. In about a month or so, I estimate the Malta Municipal Pool will be filled with water as the work on the bathhouse there continues. The work there seems to be going well. In the summer, I might get the opportunity to visit the old Shopko building in Glasgow that I hear may become where that city’s Albertsons is thinking of relocating t...

  • Construction News for April 8, 2020

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Apr 8, 2020

With the COVID-19 precautions, I am not currently working at Dairy Queen in Malta. I hope to return to work soon. The upcoming Malta Kiwanis meetings are canceled but when things get back to normal, look in the PCN briefly section for meeting dates and times. The COVID-19 virus hasn’t reached Phillips County yet and I hope it doesn’t. Once we are done social distancing, construction work around town will pick-up again and I will continue to report on it. In Glasgow, the newest news I heard is...

  • Construction News for March 11, 2020

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Mar 11, 2020

Workers took the wooden blocks out from underneath the home having a new basement built near the Phillips County Courthouse. I also watched workers do some wood cutting for new light outside of the Villa Theatre. When they are done, I will be taking those workers to Dairy Queen for lunch, supper, or dessert. Another thing going on in town is the snow has been melting and it is very muddy near where they are building the new Armory in Malta. Once it dries up a little, I will get out there and...

A few days ago, I got to go to the Masonic Lodge on 5th Street. It used to be a Lutheran church, but now it is a lodge for the Masons and the Eastern Star. When I got there I got to see them take out old chairs, maybe from the 1970's. The trailer had new chairs they were bringing in. The new chairs looked a lot like theater seats. I hope they enjoy the new seats. I also watched work being done at the Villa Theatre where they will be installing new lights and a new marquee. A reminder that Malta...

  • Malta construction updates with David Veseth for Feb. 26, 2020

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Feb 26, 2020

Today I learned that Malta Opportunities, Inc., will host a grand reopening on Wednesday, March 11 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. There will be cake and refreshments served and I will be making sweet potato pecan pie, so stop by and see us at MOI across the street from Albertsons in Malta. Last September, approximately, I watched them put in the basement – which included putting in Styrofoam insulation with rebar inside of it. Not that long ago, I got to watch the house being put back on its f...

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Feb 19, 2020

Last week I got to watch workers us a crane and truck put the house being worked on near the Phillips County Courthouse put back on its foundation. While I was watching, I noticed that they used metal ropes to help guide the house and there were metal bars beneath as well. One reason they are putting a basement in the house is to expand the space for furniture and the like. There is still some stuff out at the temporary MOI building on Highway 2, but for the most part we are moved back into the...

  • Construction News for February 12, 2020

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Feb 12, 2020

Last week I attended the Malta Kiwanis meeting, I got to hear from Pastor Bob Nagy about some of the equipment that workers are using to move the home having a basement to and from its foundation. The house – located by the Phillips County Courthouse – is having some new walls built. If they start moving the house back into the foundation, I will try to get over to watch the work and take photographs of it. Last night, Tuesday, February 4, I was with the Malta Kiwanis Club and we got to go vis...

The National Guard Armory being built in Malta had concrete poured inside the building this last week near the Phillips County Hospital is located as workers continue to work on that new building. Spencer Electric has been going up to that building has and also been up there installing wiring for electricity. The workers have been staying warm with propane heaters (I think) and luckily, the weather has warmed up a bit and we are above zero, getting into the mid 40's in Malta here in the last wee...

  • Malta construction updates with David Veseth for Jan. 29

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Jan 29, 2020

When the weather gets warmer and not below zero anymore, workers will start putting in the floor of the basement of the remodel job going on at a house near the Phillips County Courthouse in Malta. Soon remodeling will again begin on the construction job on the Snyder house near the Malta Elementary School. Before adding a new portion of the house, I hear that some remodeling work will begin in the existing portion of the home. In conclusion, that sometime in February or March, I believe MOI...

  • Malta construction updates with David Veseth January 22, 2020

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Jan 22, 2020

This past week, I did some vacuuming and scrubbed walls in the rental building where MOI was located during the remodel on US Highway 2 and then got to watch Mr. Sargent’s Malta High School Weight Lifting Class empty out the building and move stuff to the remodeled building on South 3rd Street East near Albertsons. I am hoping to take some of the students from that class to Dairy Queen for ice cream, but unfortunately, I won’t be able to take them all because it would be too expensive. I hav...

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Jan 15, 2020

The house being added on to across from the Phillips County Courthouse has had some construction lights installed as works continues in the home’s basement. It looks to me that sometime this spring or summer, that house will be put back on the foundation. I got to see construction of some of the roof being installed by workers at the new National Guard Armory in Malta Monday of last week. Since winter is in full swing, it seems as though construction around town has slowed down, but if you h...

They have finished with the new addition at the Snider house's east side near the Malta Elementary School but will be starting some new remolding work in a month on the west side. I will keep you updated. At Hillcrest, workers continue to build near the home of the Booths and the walls have been put up for a new garage. Hopefully, next week, I will be able to report that the concrete foundation at the new National Guard Armory building has started to be poured. Lastly, a month ago, Patrick...

  • Malta Armory update and other construction tidbits

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Dec 25, 2019

The house across the street from the Phillips County Court House was having walls built in the new basement. The new walls they are putting up seem to be made from wood. Over at the MOI, we have been moving items from our temporary home out on Highway 2 back into the newly refurbished MOI building on 3rd Street. We have spent a lot of time organizing and the general consensus from the MOI clients is that the building is very nice. Next week, I will go and see how the work on the Snyder House...

Last week I did last week was watched the final constriction of the walls near the home being added on to near the residence of David and Anne Booth in the Hillcrest area. After that, I got to go upstairs and inspect some of the new National Guard Armory being built near the Phillips County Hospital. Up there, I saw some equipment. They had some large heaters on in the building to combat the frigid weather we have been experiencing in Malta lately. About nine days ago, I bought lunch at Dairy Qu...

One thing I got to do a month ago was go to the Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco, Texas. I got he see videos about Dr. Pepper and look at different types of cans and bottles from the 1960, 1970s, and 1980s. At the museum, I saw a movie about Dr. Pepper and got see many bottles from years past. I also drank some fresh Dr. Pepper and tasted very good. Also, in Waco, I got to visit my sister Katie and her family. Besides the Dr. Pepper Museum, we attended the Texas Ranger Museum and learned about law...

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Nov 13, 2019

The house that is being built near the MOI group home is that of Eric Maxie, and the latest thing I saw being built there was the walls that were being put up. The walls at the National Guard Armory are also being put up near the Village Apartments and Phillips County Hospital. A week ago, I got to take pictures of the workers putting in forms at the Armory, as well. I plan on going to the Villa Theatre to watch The Addams Family when the theatre reopens this Friday, November 8. It has been...

At the new National Guard Armory being built near the Phillips County Hospital, they have put up the new walls for the building, some look like concrete and other look like bricks. This work took place the middle of the second to last week in October. Construction on the private house near the MOI Group Home continues where the workers are putting up the walls for the expansion of the house. Over at the MOI, skylights have been installed near the back of the building and it really brightens the...

  • Construction News for October 30

    David Veseth, PCN Construction Reporter|Oct 30, 2019

Last week I visited the Snyder House near the Malta Elementary School where constriction is taking place. At that location, they are adding on to their house to make it bigger and currently it looks like they are adding on some living space. While I was there I got to watch John Kinney use an electric saw to cut wood used in the remodel. At the MOI, workers put some skylights inside the building and the washers and driers have been installed in the laundromat so it seems that will be opening...
