    Most citizens in Phillips County can now send a short message service (SMS) text message to 911 for emergency help when unable to make a 911 voice call.     On the 27th of July at approx 3:09 a.m., Phillips County Dispatch received a call from a motorist stating he saw a young man walking down the middle of the highway wearing only underwear.     In an emergency, the public alert siren will sound if there is a confirmed hazardous incident that threatens life or health of Malta residents. The tones will be the same as the nightly tests, but continuously wailing. If Malta is experiencing severe weather at the time take shelter and tune in to KMMR radio for details.     Since January of 2016 the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office has arrested close to a dozen individuals and issued nearly two dozen citations for misdemeanor drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
