    On Saturday, September 24, a former Malta standout Kirk Stiles was named to the Carroll College Hall of Fame. Stiles was a part of a Fighting Saints basketball team at Carroll that has now become legendary after their 26-6 record in the 2000-01 season, in which the team was also crowned the Frontier Conference Champions.     The Mavericks had a rough outing last week losing two games to Poplar and Scobey but winning a game against Brockton. The team will have another tough weekend as the team will look to challenge Malta in Malta Thursday, take on Lustre Christian in Saco on Friday and travel to Harlem to take on the Wildcats on Saturday.     Malta Parks and Recreation had their quarterly meeting on Tuesday, October 4. During the meeting several plans and results were discussed as what the department has done and will do in the near future as the group continues to create opportunities for the community of Malta.     After losing the first set to the Harlem Ladycats on Thursday, October 6, in Harlem, the Malta M-ettes had a team discussion that would inspire the team to come back and not only win the remaining sets but completely dominate the game.
