Dodson

§ Rachel Mortenson reported fine to near quarter sized hail in Dodson on Tuesday afternoon.

§ Wendy Hopkins reports the children attending summer school at Dodson took a trip to the dam for some fishing last Wednesday, getting some nibbles and catching at least one fish.

Malta

§ The Edgewater Inn and RV Park in Malta reported that one of their guests in town working on the train derailment cleanup filmed a tornado touching down at Bowdoin over the water. They also reported North County Basketball Camp forms are available in the lobby.

§ A street light was toppled by high winds on Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of South 9th Street East and South 1st Ave East. Members of the Malta City Public Works Crew and one Phillips County Sheriff’s Office Deputy were at the scene while power workers were in route.

§ Katie Skiff reported a downed power line near the family home south of Malta. She said a small fire was started by the downed line, but added the fire was extinguished by the volunteer fire fighters and Big Flat workers had power back on at the home in time to cook dinner.

§ Kylie Starkey reported a tree in the yard near her house snapped during high winds last Tuesday and fell on her house, causing a minimal amount of damage.

§ Malta’s Darla and Tom Niebur celebrated their 13th Wedding Anniversary last Tuesday.

§ Vince Schmoeckel celebrated his 60th birthday with family and friends at the Malta VFW on Thursday night. Happy birthday, Vince.

§ Malta resident and New York Times Bestselling Author B.J. Daniels has penned a book about writing entitled Write your Damn Book which is now available on Amazon and the countdown to the release of her latest romance novel, Into Dust, is underway. Look for a review in the PCN in the future.

§ Casey Knudsen and Shyla Gairrett were wed in Malta two Saturday's ago with the ceremony held near the Missouri River Reality Offices on the Milk River with a reception following at the Stockman Terrace. The wild storm that blew through the area that night did not dampen spirits at the reception and Randy Rhoads and friends provided live music.

§ The Third Annual Parking Lot Party was hosted by the Lucky Bullet with local band Trial by Fire providing the tunes two Fridays ago.

§ Happy belated birthday to Malta Mustang head football coach Nick Oxarart and Susan Bibbs. Happy birthday wishes to Riley Mortenson and Dwight Score who both celebrate their birthdays on July 1.

§ The Art Spot hosted Cocktails 'N Canvas - Beaches & Oceans last Thursday and the event was well attended. The next Cocktails 'N Canvas will be held in September.

Saco

§ Long-time Saco resident Gladys Herman passed away at home in Saco on June 17th. She was 99-years-old.

§ Chris Pippin reported 4/10 inches of hail measured in Saco during an afternoon storm last Tuesday in just over ten minutes.

§ Belated birthday wishes to Justinn Marshall.

§ Happy birthday wishes to Colleen Barnard who celebrates her birthday on July 1.

§ Multiple sources say the fishing has picked up at Nelson Reservoir, some people catching their limit each day.

§ Heidi and Chris Pippin celebrated their 22nd Wedding Anniversary last Saturday.

Non-Local

§ In U.S. news, fast food chain Burger King recently announced they will start serving Mac n’ Cheetos, which are deep fried sticks of macaroni and cheese encrusted in Cheetos-flavored breading. The idea leaves this reporter both disgusted and intrigued at the same time.
