Information update on Old US Highway 2

The asphalt overlay and bridge replacement on Old US Highway 2 is now at the bidding process with contractor bids due July 7, 2016.

The scheduled notice to proceed date is August 8, 2016 with a completion date of October 2017. The bridge will most likely be replaced this fall with the road construction starting in the spring of 2017.

There will be a marked detour route during construction using the West Strater Road. Old US Highway 2 will not be widened, but will be rehabilitated and a new asphalt surface for 3.6 miles and a chip seal for 2.4 miles to Bowdoin Refuge.

The funding for this project was secured through the Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP) in 2013. We will continue to repair the existing roadway until the road rehabilitation project starts.

Any questions or concerns call Commissioner Bruce Christofferson 654-2429.
