    For the third consecutive season, the team named Malta Old School became champions of the Malta Parks and Recreation Co-Ed Basketball League, as they defeated top-ranked Alley-Oops 56-46 in the league’s championship game on Tuesday, February 26, at the Malta City Hall building.     The season came to an end for the Malta Mustangs as the team lost out in the consolation round of the 2019 Northern B Divisional in Shelby last weekend. Malta lost their opening game to the Rocky Boy Northern Stars on Thursday, February 28. The score was 52-39. The Mustangs would face off against the Choteau Bulldogs in the opening round of the elimination bracket on Friday afternoon and fall 80-64.     The Malta Middle School wrestlers competed in the Montana Middle School Championships in Lewistown last Saturday, March 2, despite subzero temperatures rocking Eastern Montana. The weather was so cold that Malta Middle School canceled buses, leaving Malta with only four competitors. Two of four wrestlers placed at the event. Spencer Gibbs took third place in the 140-weight class. Cameron Mikesell took fourth place in the 120-weight class.     It’s interesting being a parent at times. I enjoy watching my boys play together. Now that Lincoln is starting to get around by crawling or assisted walking we get to see the boys interact more and more; it has been somewhere between perfect harmony and a 4-H pig show.
