Drabbels graduated from Malta in 2001... Full story

  • Hard to beat Bozeman on the Fourth of July

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoor Columnist|Jul 9, 2014

I’ve lived in some great places in Montana. Cooke City was the first and will always hold a special place in my heart. Livingston was a wonderful place to live, too, and I couldn’t be happier with where I live now in Malta, but come Independence Day I still long to be in Bozeman. I miss the spectacle. Bozeman, like many towns in the state, puts on a Fourth of July fireworks show. In Livingston there’s a fireworks display every night following the Roundup Rodeo. There’s even a fireworks show he... Full story

  • Mosquito fighting newspaper in our future?

    Mark Hebert, Editor|Jul 9, 2014

My typical week during the summer as editor of the PCN breaks down like this: 60 hours working, 49 hours sleeping, three hours trying to get my car to start and the last 56 hours slapping mosquitoes off my skin. I had heard all the stories about the little flying cannibals that Phillips County Folk spend all summer swatting and I was 100-percent sure that they were overblown. Well, I can bumpily tell you that I am now officially a member of Phillips County as I have been attacked by these skeeters so much that last night I played pink-welt... Full story

  • Broken Promises

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Jul 9, 2014

We’re more than halfway through 2014 and the halfway point of the year often gives me a chance to think about promises or resolutions that I have made of the year. It seems like a common thing that we as Americans make verbal agreements to try to give up something or do more of something every year… I say that’s dumb.. If I were to say, I’m going to run a mile every single day of 2014, yet when you aim to start running a blizzard hits town, what then? By the time the snow has melted I bet you... Full story

  • Please consider attending Billings Bison Meeting

    Jul 9, 2014

Dear Editor, Where the Buffalo roam is a romantic phrase in the song “Home on the Range”. Beyond that phrase is the issue of relocation of the over populated, possibly brucellosis infected Yellowstone National Park (YNP) bison somewhere in the State of Mt. This issue is being pushed upon the citizens of Montana by State & Federal agencies and special wildlife interest groups even though the majority of MT citizens are against free roaming bison. The real issue is not that they are in danger of extinction or there is not a huntable bison pop... Full story
