  • Moe & Gertie: Continued Correspondence

    Betty Munson, For the PCN|Nov 23, 2022

Moe replies to Gertie's letter Dear Gertie, Charlie's wife was mad as a hornet. "You," she charged, “A pillar of the community, had to go and get yourself in a fix like this. I'll never be able to live this down. I've a mind to go stay with my mother for a while." So she went and poor Charlie ambled over to my house and vowed to keep his nose to the grindstone. He don't feel like hobnobbing with the bigwigs on the city council anymore-not since the Beagle Daily News ran the story complete with headline: City Council member Charlie Camberly A...

  • Sports leave Little Time for Hunting and Fishing

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoors Columnist|Nov 23, 2022

I fear organized sports are robbing our youth of their outdoor heritage. What with seasons and tournaments that run the entire school year, and summer sports camps, which fill in the void, there’s little time left for hunting or fishing. I was fortunate to have grown up in a time when sports didn’t monopolize my life, in part because I wasn’t a very talented athlete. But the business of youth sports camps had yet to boom, and the idea of select and traveling teams was in its infancy. In a recen...

    Pierre Bibbs, Play Ball|Nov 23, 2022

It seems that things are finally getting better in terms of my double-eye muscle surgery. Last Monday was intense. I was struggling pretty bad throughout the first week of recovery. My eyes were so dry and irritated that I couldn't keep my eyes open for long amounts of time. After not being able to work for a few days after my surgery, I forced the issue on Monday. I have been trained to work through nearly anything on Monday. I believe the only Monday that I may have missed was during the birth...

  • Winter weather has antelope moving

Marc Kloker, MT FWP Region 6|Nov 23, 2022

Although the pronghorn (commonly known as antelope) hunting season is over, they are still on the move. The recent winter weather in Montana has triggered antelope into migration mode, with them often moving south. Frequently, this leads to large groups attempting to cross highways and other major roadways, and motorists should be aware. As most folks know, antelope aren't the best at crossing fences or other barriers. Many times, this results in groups or individuals running next to a barrier...
