  • Making the most of fall fishing season

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoor Columnist|Oct 21, 2015

Winter never ends soon enough. It’s hard to tell when spring even starts, and summer seems to get longer every year, but autumn always passes too quickly. It’s just the middle of October and most of the leaves are already gone. Snow dusts the higher peaks and the prairie is the color of khaki. There’s a nip in the air most mornings. For those anglers who haven’t yet put their boats in storage or hung up their waders, fishing is excellent. The crowds are gone. The lakes and rivers are as clear a...

  • Fall football, drinks for Putin and the anxiety of Autumn

    Brandon Nicholson, Columnist|Oct 21, 2015

I’m a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, I have been for around 15 years. That’s why I have been nothing but thrilled with life the past few weeks. Big Ben (Roethlisberger) took a pretty troubling knee injury, but Mike Vick and Le’Veon (Bell) got a clutch win last Monday in San Diego, and the debut of Landry Jones was more than impressive with the win today against Arizona. Jones threw the ball 12 times for 168 yards and two touchdowns, completing 75-percent of his passes. Those numbers with a sidelined Ben Roethlisberger have the entire “Terr...

  • I got bailed out

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Oct 21, 2015

I must’ve walked under a ladder or something weird because the week before last was pretty rough. My week of misfortune started during a game in which Malta defeated Shelby in the rainiest football game Malta has seen in some time. I went to Mustang field that day to accomplish one thing. That thing was to do my job. I definitely did that, taking tons of pictures and I even stayed out to interview players and the coach after the game. Mission Complete, right? It was complete but little did I k...

Jerry and Bonnie Lankford are still busy working on Cecelia’s house so CeeDee can move into it. Be nice to have a neighbor again. Kristi, Keith a...

  • If only the State of Montana would allow me to win millions each day

    Mark Hebert, Editor|Oct 21, 2015

I’d like to discuss one of my pet peeves today. This column will not include the bugbears that are horror movies, circuses or long-winded speakers (but someday it might.) No, the pet peeve I want to talk about is when I am told I can’t do something but given no reason why. If you have watched a single stitch of any sports broadcast in the last six months then you have seen advertisements for Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) websites such as FanDuel and DraftKings. Going 10-minutes during any televised sporting event without seeing one of these com...
