What a whirlwind the last couple weeks have been, a lot of happenings and a whole lotta goings on!! We are home to State Champion wrestlers, and sent a lot of strong athletes to Billings to make other kids crank up their level to beat ours. Season 23-24 for girls and boys basketball for regular conference play ended over the weekend and now the slates are clean as District Tournament actions begin (for Malta) on Wednesday in Wolf Point, and finish up on Saturday. Happy Valentines Day! Have you gotten over the total excitement of the Super Bowl? We even had a tail gate party here at Affinity! The football game was playing at the theater, so it was on a big screen! One of the refineries had a fire which really put a huge amount of smoke into the air. Recent visitors to the Olsen Farm, for a five-generation photo were Great-great Grandmother Margie, Great-Grandpa Allie, Grandma Mandy(absent), her daughter Tatum and Tatum’s two children Katana and Kenzo Strong. Sympathy to the family of Pat Berg Tribby. She is the sister of Howard Berg. He still has cattle in Whitewater. Pat was raised here, and her mom Gladys Berg cooked at the Whitewater schools for over 40 years. Lois Berg Breitman was her sister also. It is sad how many friends and family we have lost. A friend recently said her husband was in the process of passing along his collection of firearms to their grandchildren. The weather is very spring like! It’s a great change from the subzero weather from a few weeks ago! The frozen pipes are all fixed, thank goodness! It’s hard to stay active in the middle of winter. Snow and bitter cold keep me inside the house, sunken deep in my favorite chair, mesmerized by ball games of little consequence. The weather changed and it is warmer which makes most of us happier! The chores are easier and the equipment starts better! But we also know that this won’t last too long! Greetings from the North Pole. It snowed and was -45 below last night in Whitewater. Some people declared it higher. Bad news, my water and sewer froze up. Sympathy to all who have some problems. Dear Editor, Our Montana code has about 70-75 occupations where if one wants, they can go to the state and take an exam. When they pass the exam they can then be qualified by the state to do business under their certification. These certifications are essentially under the jurisdiction of the state legislature. Not so with becoming an attorney. To get that certification, one has to first graduate from an "approved by an American Bar Association" college or school. Loring, and most of Montana, is experiencing very low temps, and a little snow. The weather had to be bad, the ballgames were postponed! I made it past PSA security at Billings International Airport and headed to Gate C to wait for my flight to Wolf Point. Dear Editor: I just wanted to share this amazing man with you. Santa. This Santa does a great thing every Christmas season. He is truly Clause for a Cause. Each year he donates the proceeds from his visits with a specific charity to make our community/world a better place.
