The Dodson track is being rebuilt and the weather is getting nice enough it will soon be needed and used. They are doing a really good job with it so hope there is lots of kids out for track. Polly Solberg and Dora Henry went to the Harlem Seed Show on Saturday. There was quite a bit of art and lots of beautiful quilts but not too many other booths and exhibits. Some said there was a good car show down on the end at the shop but we did not walk down there. There was a school for Election Judges at the courthouse on Thursday and it had a full class. All week we have had harsh winter again. We got several inches of snow Wednesday night and Friday and the cold followed and stayed. It was sort of bad weather for the tournaments but they carried on well. Terri Cole and Bonnie Lankford went to Helena in the storm on Friday. Velyma Broadhead has been away for a few days this week. It is surprising how a couple days of sunshine and the horrible wind can change the landscape so fast. The ground that was white is now brown again and there is not even hardly any water standing around any more. My son at Laurel said they had 7 inches again so were having to shovel everything off. We could not get away with out at least one more cold blast and a little more snow from old man winter, so Sunday and Monday were nasty again and very cold. The community was saddened with the death of long time resident of Malta and Saco, Helen Mae DePuydt. She had been a good friend to many--she was my neighbor as we grew up. The weather has stayed pretty much the same, some warmer days, but lots of wind, and on Friday a short little snowstorm. It has cleared it down so we are seeing a lot more bare ground again. There was a Council on Aging meeting on the ninth with an election of officers for the new year. I hope everyone remembered their special one on Valentine's Day. Sunday was a day right out of spring, the wind blowing of course, but warm and water all over. Too early for the frost to be out so it was just standing. Well, we have had pretty good weather this week as opposed to what we were having. It has actually been pretty nice most days. We have had a couple light snow drifts but the sun and the wind have taken most of them away again. Let's hope it continues on it's upward climb. This week has all been pretty warm for us. It has melted a lot of the snow (and) because of the freezing at night has made some vicious ice, but everyday it melts enough to put some water on top but it is all helping the snow to disappear. At least the weather has given us a little reprieve and we are having some fairly pleasant days and some of the snow is disappearing. Seems funny that weather takes the head place in conversations but this year has given us lots to talk about. It is still very cold, as I write this it is minus 5 but the weatherman has told us we are warming up this week starting tomorrow. Wednesday and Thursday are supposed to be our warmest. For Wednesday, December 15, 2021. This last week has been cold and nasty and given us an unpleasant look at winter weather. Saturday did warm up to 41 degrees for a couple hours before starting down again. The weatherman predicted cold all week. Sunday got up in the 40's again. I attended a COA meeting in Malta on Wednesday & when I got home---no furnace----it wouldn't turn on and there was an odd odor in my house. Thanksgiving is over again for another year and I hope everyone had a wonderful day with family and friends. It is a good time for visiting and enjoying fellowship and lots of good food. A terrible wind seemed to cover all of Montana on Wednesday and Thursday. We had winds here both days and they were really hard. No moisture came with them though. Other than the winds the temperatures have not been too bad. Colder at night but easier to get along with for November in the daytime. We had another nice rain on Saturday night. It was nice to wake up to see all the little puddles of water in the streets.It all helps make up from being so dry. The weather keeps telling us that we are going into the fall-winter season. The nights have continued to be colder and below freezing but the days for the most part warm-up and are quite nice. Fall is sure moving up fast----the leaves are falling like snowflakes ---have hauled two loads to the dumps already. It is fun to watch the trees---some shed their leaves so fast while others lose a few and then sit before sending any more down. The temps are getting a little cooler every night too.
