Wednesday evening 3/2 the snow started coming down while we were at Ash Wednesday services and dropped about 4 inches overnight! Then on Thursday, it picked up again and maybe a couple more inches! So needed! On Wednesday I noticed that the dog was drinking from a puddle of water not frozen. When I went out to investigate, I had a leak in the pump house basement which made the basement a swimming pool! Meteorological spring is on March 1. I know the gophers are out and a few birds are moving around. I’ve seen quite a few eagles and hawks. Astronomic spring is March 22, also known as the spring equinox. Rodney Stordahl drove Dixie Stordahl to Billings for a few days. February is the month that the bald eagles and geese return north! I admit I’ve seen eagles all winter, this year but I suspect it might have been injured. Friday, December 17, Cary Woodruff culminated his five years of post graduate studies by defending his thesis. He studied for his doctorate at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Toronto under David Evans. Dr. Woodruff has been Director of the Great Plains Dinosaur Museum and Field Station in Malta, since March of 2016. His doctorate work was on pachycephalosaurus, or the head butter dinosaurs. It was certainly serendipitous when Pastor Bob got a tire that was going flat at Senior meals at the North Forty. He aired it up and started off for Malta. If we get clear skies in the evenings you will be able to see Venus close to the horizon in the west, then a golden planet Saturn and even farther up in the sky a bright Jupiter!
